To expand on my original (brilliant) sketches from NICAR 2013, I wrote up a short recap on the AxisPhilly Apps blog.
My attendance at the conference was made possible by the Center of Public Interest Journalism, and let me tell ‘ya, nothing like attending an industry leading conference in the first month of your job in a new industry (in this case, moving from a tech startup to journalism).
It was a little disconcerting to be an engineer among a lot of non-technical folks, but it definitely gave me a perspective on where the industry is at, where people want to be, and what kinds of things are possible.
